About Mori No Kumasan (Bear Of The Mountain)

Introducing Mori No Kumasan (Bear Of The Mountain) Restaurant, a cozy cafe tucked into the mountain landscape of Miyoshi, Tokushima, where the pace slows and the coffee smells richer the moment you arrive. Set at 162-1 Nishiiyayamamura Zentoku, this spot feels like a friendly hideaway rather than a formal dining room, making it easy to drop in for a relaxed break or a quick bite between adventures. The vibe leans casual and warm, with a cafe-style atmosphere that invites conversation, lingering sips, and unhurried moments. Outdoor seating adds to the charm, especially on clear days when fresh air and quiet views naturally become part of the experience. Inside, the mood stays welcoming and unfussy, which makes dine-in visits comfortable whether you’re solo or sharing a table. Service options are flexible too, with dine-in, delivery, and outdoor seating all fitting different schedules and moods. Coffee plays a central role here, poured with care and meant to be enjoyed slowly, yet it pairs just as well with a speedy stop for a quick bite. Alcohol is also on the menu, giving the place an easygoing edge that works for afternoon pauses or laid-back evenings. What stands out most is how effortlessly the restaurant blends into its surroundings, feeling connected to the mountain setting rather than competing with it. The name, Bear Of The Mountain, feels fitting, suggesting something hearty, comforting, and rooted in nature without trying too hard. It’s the kind of cafe where locals and travelers alike can feel at ease, swapping stories, checking maps, or simply enjoying the calm. Every detail, from the relaxed service flow to the balanced offerings, supports a simple idea: good food, good drinks, and a space that lets you breathe. Introducing this place is less about selling a concept and more about sharing a spot that quietly earns its appeal through atmosphere, accessibility, and a genuine sense of welcome.

A wide variety of food including breakfast (French toast, hot cakes etc.) coffee and other beverages. Saw a bunch of other things on the menu like sandwiches etc. There is also an option to feed birds which come to visit on the porch. Run by a friendly owner. Free wifi. Right next to the Iya Valley vine bridge.

Interesting cafe with nice sandwiches and hotcake. I was amazed seeing the owner did everything by himself. He is the cashier, the barista, the food maker, and the waiter who serve food. This doesn’t slow him down as the food serving was fast. Coffee to me was just average but the hot cake definitely worth to give it a try, I will miss that when back to Malaysia. Cozy environment, just nice to have a little rest after a long walk. Price is decent. The restaurant do provide WiFi and drinking water in case you need it. Now I know Kuma mean Bear after the visit

This is a lovely cafe right next to the vine bridge! There is delicious honey drinks and food. We had the honey cappuccino and that was sooo nice, not too sweet and great flavour. We got also the honey hot cake and french toasts, both really delicious. The cafe plays some nice music and it is nested in the beautiful forest. The owner also has a little bird feeder outside and it is peaceful to see the birds come. You can even hand feed them if you're patient / lucky!

Nice little cafe near the Iya Valley vineyard bridge. The owner sells honey from bees he raises nearby and also has a variety of honey flavored items in the menu. We had the hotcake, sandwich, honey cappuccino and a latte. All very good and the hotcake and cappuccino were not overly sweet. He also has some local birds that hang out for the seeds in the feeder outside. They are quite happy to get seeds from your hand as well, just be patient!

Very nice place for a drink and snack. Many products are made with the delicious honey they also sell separately. The cake was very tasty and so were the drinks!

We ordered French toast and honey cuppucinno. It was slightly above average. 1150 yen. 3 stars But the greatest of this cafe was bird feeding. The owner was very friendly and helped us to lure the birds. We were so amazed that his trick really worked and the birds started coming to us. 5 stars to the owner and bird feeding

Just from the exterior, this shop immediately draws you in. The atmosphere is incredibly romantic, yet it maintains a timeless elegance. You might worry that the prices are high—but no, the food, drinks, and service here are absolutely worth it, and even surprisingly affordable. Their honey is exceptional, so be sure not to miss the pancakes! One of the most delightful experiences is feeding sunflower seeds to the little songbirds. Feeling their tiny feet gently grasp your palm is both exciting and heartwarming. They’re still quite wary of people, which makes the experience even more special! You might even spot flying squirrels and other woodland creatures. This charming café nestled in the forest leaves a lasting impression—definitely a place worth visiting!

Nice food, the fried chicken is so crispy and juicy. The seasonal peach smoothie also me under the hot weather. The food portion is large and very inexpensive.
